Day 9: Ship a Package to Santa
Day 9: Ship something to Santa Claus
When Jia Jiang did this task, he picked a random item to ship to the North Pole and said he wanted Santa to distribute it to a kid who wants it. Honestly, genius concept.
When preparing for this task I was trying to think of something I could bring to ship. I didn’t want to bring anything too valuable, on the off chance that it could get shipped. But I also wanted it to be practical for the excuse I was giving.
Despite my attempt to plan, I walked out of the house and got in the car completely forgetting to bring something with me. ADHD things. I opened up my center console and saw 3 unopened tubes of play-doh staring at me. It was PERFECT.
Don’t ask me why I have play-doh in my car, it has been sitting in there for over a year and I never saw a reason to take it out. I’m sure glad I didn’t.
I meant to drive to a FedEx but accidentally went to a UPS instead. I didn’t overthink it too much, this task seemed much easier than the day before. I started walking up to the store and when I entered I was automatically greeted. I had no time to think and went right into explaining. I told her the Play-doh had been sitting in my car forever and that I wanted to ship it to Santa for him to distribute to a kid.
She wasn’t too sure how to answer and asked if I had an address to the North Pole. “Do you think google has an address to the North Pole?”
We both busted out laughing. She was at a loss for words and her coworkers didn’t know how to handle the situation either. They all got a good laugh and she suggested giving it to someone with a kid. I happily took the rejection, thanked her, and walked back to my car.
This one was the least nerve-wracking one since Day 3. I wasn’t too thrown off or anxious and I left feeling accomplished and proud. Good thing I got a slight break from humiliation, I was gonna need it for Day 10.
